The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Tuesday said no official confirmation on former Presidential Spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque’s arrest was communicated to the agency.
“I would like to emphasize that no official communication confirming an arrest has been transmitted to us. We will make the appropriate announcement once an official confirmation is received,” DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla said in a statement, in response to circulating news that the lawyer has been arrested in the Netherlands.
According to reports released on Sunday, the Philippines has requested a Red Notice against Roque from the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).
“By virtue of the Red Notice issued by the Philippine government, authorities in the Netherlands have cause to arrest him (Roque) and turn him over to Philippine authorities,” Remulla said.
Meanwhile, the lawyer has refuted claims of his arrest, saying he is presently headed for Vienna, Austria, as of writing.
