April will see the launch of a Philippine tourism police, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla announced on Wednesday.

The DILG, in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT), will deploy the tourism police in the top tourist spots in the country.

Remulla said that 100 will be stationed in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), 50 in Poblacion, Makati, 50 in Boracay, 100 in Siargao, 100 in Cebu, 100 in Bohol, and 100 in Puerto Princesa.

“The top tourist spots in the country will have the tourist police, they will be identified, they will have body cams. And each and every tourist that arrives in the Philippines will be given the calling card of 911: ‘In case of emergency, call 911,” the Interior secretary said.

According to some online sources, January to April is the peak season for tourists visiting the country.
