Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla expressed confidence that he and his personnel will manage to bring resigned Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Elizaldy Co from France back to the Philippines to face his corruption allegations.

In a Thursday interview, Remulla told reporters that while Co was not under the custody of European authorities, the government will still be able to capture the former lawmaker.

“He is hiding behind the systems of Europe but eventually, makukuha rin namin,” he assured.

When asked how he could be so confident, Remulla joked, “Mayabang ako, e,” according to a report by RH 28 Raymund Dadpaas.

The Interior chief also said the chances of finally locating and arresting Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, who is also in hiding, were bigger.

“We’re almost there, lumalaki na,” he said.

Co, former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, Romualdez’s personal aide Joselyn Tragua Serenio, and businessman Felicito Cristobal Guevarra were issued an arrest warrant and a Hold Departure Order (HDO) by the Sandiganbayan on Monday, September 7.
