

MANILA, Philippines – Operations of the Consular Offices of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) were temporarily suspended on Friday due to the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that shook Davao Oriental.
According to the DFA, the Consular Office in Tacloban (CO Tacloban) closed at 12:01pm on Friday (10 October 2025) due to a potential tsunami threat, as advised by the City Government of Tacloban.
The tsunami warning was lifted at 1:43pm today, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
The DFA announced that CO Tacloban will resume its regular operations on Monday, 13 October 2025.
It reminded all affected applicants with confirmed appointments who are unable to avail of consular services due to the suspension of operations will be accommodated from 13 October 2025 until 12 November 2025 (Monday to Friday except holidays) during the CO’s regular operation hours (09:00AM to 4:00PM).

The public is also advised that the Consular Office (CO) in General Santos will be closed on 10 October 2025, Friday, due to the 7.4 magnitude earthquake, pursuant to the public advisory by the City Government of General Santos.
According to the DFA, passport applicants with confirmed appointment on the said date may be accommodated within thirty (30) days, at their original timeslot.
