Thousands of devotees continued to gather at the Quirino Grandstand for the traditional Pahalik to the image of Jesus Nazarene as the Feast of Jesus Nazareno draws near.
According to a report from RH Noche Cacas, the number of devotees lining up for the Pahalik continued to swell throughout the day. As of 4:00 p.m. on January 8, the Manila Police District (MPD) estimated the crowd at around 18,000.
Authorities said the line of devotees stretched as far as the Manila Hotel and Katigbak Street, looping several times along Roxas Boulevard before reaching Kalaw Street near the Grandstand.
Meanwhile, police confirmed that the route of the andas for the Traslacion on January 9 is now clear. Security personnel have been strategically deployed along the route to ensure crowd control and public safety.
Traffic restrictions remain in effect around the Quirino Grandstand, with tightened vehicle access and the clearing of vendors in the area as authorities continue preparations for the Traslacion.
