The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) has confirmed that detained religious leader Apollo C. Quiboloy was hospitalized earlier this month after suffering from health complications.

According to the BJMP, Quiboloy was rushed to a public hospital on September 11, 2025, after experiencing difficulty in breathing. Doctors later diagnosed him with community-acquired pneumonia classified as moderate risk.

The Pasig City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 159, which is handling one of Quiboloy’s cases, was immediately notified of his condition. On September 15, the court issued an order authorizing his hospitalization.

“As of September 29, 2025, he is stable and recovering in a public hospital, in line with BJMP policies on medical care for persons deprived of liberty (PDL),” the bureau said in an official statement.

Quiboloy, founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC), has been in detention while facing multiple legal battles. He was accused of serious charges ranging from human trafficking to child sexual abuse in Philippine courts.

He is also notoriously wanted in the United States, where federal authorities have indicted him and several associates on charges of sex trafficking and other related crimes.

The controversial pastor, who has long denied the allegations against him, was arrested in September 2024 following months of heightened public and political pressure.
