House Deputy Speaker Ronaldo Puno has filed a cyberlibel case against Cavite 4th District Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Barzaga in response to allegations of bribery.
Barzaga previously accused the members of the National Unity Party (NUP) of accepting a bribe from billionaire Enrique Razon, who purportedly sought support for former House Speaker Martin Romualdez during the 2025 midterm elections, according to a Tuesday report by RH 12 Milky Rigonan.
In addition to filing a cyberlibel case, Puno said that the NUP will be pushing for Barzaga’s expulsion from Congress.
Under the law, parliamentary immunity does not shield Barzaga from such a case; should Barzaga be found guilty, he could face up to six years in prison.
Barzaga’s 60-day suspension, which began on December 1, ends in February. The NUP had also initiated the move for his suspension, citing disorderly conduct and disrespectful social media content.
