The Department of Education (DepEd) will distribute 172,654 Apple MacBook Neo laptops to public school teachers and administrative personnel nationwide from November 2026 to March 2027.
In a press release on November 3, Education Secretary Sonny Angara said the initiative aims to ease teachers' financial burden of purchasing their own laptops and provide them with reliable technology for their work.
“For the longest time, our teachers have carried the heavy personal burden of buying their own laptops or maintaining outdated equipment just to keep up with lesson plans. Under the vision of President Marcos, we are changing the narrative,” Angara said.
Apple CEO John Ternus also described the agreement as the company's biggest-ever Mac education deal, with approximately 170,000 units set for deployment in the Philippines.
The procurement covers 169,008 laptops for teachers and 3,646 for administrative officers, with each unit costing approximately P43,000 and carrying a five-year warranty.
The package also includes productivity tools, logistics services, and professional training through GuroXL, a training framework developed by DepEd and Apple in coordination with the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP).
