The Department of Education (DepEd) announced a two-day wellness break for public school teachers on September 14 and 15, 2026, in line with the implementation of the three-term school calendar in basic education.

Under DepEd Order No. 009, series of 2026, teachers will not be required to attend meetings, trainings, Learning Action Cell sessions, school activities, or perform reporting, submissions, asynchronous deliverables, and other official work during the two-day break.

The order said the wellness break is intended to give teachers time to rest, recuperate, and attend to their personal well-being before the start of the succeeding term.

“A wellness break is provided for teachers after each term to allow them time to rest, recuperate, and attend to their personal well-being before the start of the succeeding term,” the memorandum stated.

DepEd urged regional offices, schools division offices, and schools to respect and protect the two days as a genuine break for teachers.

School heads and field officials were also encouraged to carefully schedule activities immediately before and after the break to ensure that its intended purpose is preserved.

"Immediate dissemination of and strict compliance with this Memorandum is directed," the order added.
