Former Congressman Mike Defensor said he is not ruling out filing charges against National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Att.y Melvin Matibag but believes the timing is not yet appropriate.
Speaking to reporters during the surprise rally of members of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC), Defensor was asked whether he plans to pursue a counter-charge against the NBI chief.
He questioned the handling of previous complaints involving him and 18 Marines, saying they were never investigated despite filing complaints.
Kami ba inimbestigahan? Hindi mo maintindihan bakit ganoon. Naintindihan ko, politika,” he said.
Defensor also accused Matibag of undermining the credibility of the NBI, stressing that his criticism was directed at the agency's leadership rather than its personnel.
He further claimed that several individuals within the bureau have expressed dissatisfaction with Matibag's leadership.
“Maraming sa kanya galit na talaga. Tumatawag, nagme-mensahe sa akin,” he added.
Defensor did not specify when he intends to pursue legal action but maintained that any move against the NBI director would be made at the appropriate time.
