Former congressman Mike Defensor intensified his public dispute with National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Atty. Melvin Matibag, posting a digitally edited image of the NBI chief as a dog and accusing him of suppressing individuals allegedly speaking out about corruption and flood control anomalies.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, June 25, Defensor denied claims that he had described the NBI as “tanga” or “bobo,” insisting that his criticism was directed solely at Matibag.
“Una sa lahat, hindi ko sinabing tanga at bobo ang NBI. Isang tao lang ang sumisira sa imahe nito—at iyon ay si Atty. Melvin Matibag,” Defensor wrote.
The former lawmaker also dismissed the evidence presented by the NBI in its investigation involving his family, criticizing what he described as weak documentation.
“Pangalawa, walang kuwenta ang ebidensya mo! Building Plan? Ano kayo, City Engineering Office? Nakakatawa pati ang presentasyon ninyo,” he said.
Defensor further alleged that some of the individuals he previously mentioned in relation to the controversy were political allies of those behind the investigation.
“’Yung Cabinet Secretary at Senador na binanggit ko, mga kakampi ninyo. Kung manggigipit kayo, isama ninyo ang mga kakampi ninyo. Kilala mo kung sino sila,” he added.
The former congressman also revisited his allegations involving flood control projects and questioned why, according to him, individuals speaking about alleged corruption were being targeted.
“Paano ko kakasuhan si Cong. Ann Matibag eh ’yung 18 Marines na nagsasalita tungkol sa korupsyon at flood control scandal ay ginigipit mo! Sila pa ang sinisiraan mo imbes na tulungan sa paghahanap ng ebidensya ng korupsyon,” Defensor said.
In the same post, Defensor mocked Matibag by referencing a remark previously attributed to Senator Alan Peter Cayetano regarding alleged “aso at tuta” in politics and government.
“Ako, bibigyan na lang kita ng breed. At paumanhin sa mga may-ari ng mga cute na pug… Ikaw si Melvin mati-pug!” he wrote, alongside an edited image of the NBI chief.
The latest exchange follows Matibag’s challenge for Defensor to file a formal complaint against Congresswoman Ann Matibag if he possesses evidence supporting allegations related to flood control projects. The NBI director also urged Defensor to pursue legal action against him and the bureau if he believes they are being subjected to harassment.
The public dispute comes amid the NBI’s planned filing of qualified human trafficking charges against Mike and Julie Defensor, two of their children, and several officials of Cliffpoint Development in connection with a KTV bar raided in Pasig City on April 21. Defensor has denied the allegations and maintained that the investigation is politically motivated.
