Authorities recovered the ninth body from the collapsed building site in Angeles City on Sunday afternoon, May 31, as search and retrieval operations continued in the area.

According to operatives on the ground, the latest victim was found near the location where the eighth body had been recovered earlier in the day, further raising the death toll from the tragedy that struck the city this week.

The collapse site, located near Oak Street in Section 4, Barangay Balibago, remains under close monitoring as rescue and clearing operations continue.

Meanwhile, the Angeles City government announced that access along Oak Street has already been restored following a personal inspection conducted by Angeles City Mayor Jon Lazatin in the affected community.

In a statement, the local government said coordination with concerned agencies allowed the reopening of roads to ensure residents could safely enter and leave the area following disruptions caused by the collapse.

Authorities also confirmed that electricity in the area has been restored after repairs and maintenance work were completed on damaged power lines and electrical posts.

The city government said it continues to monitor affected residents to ensure their needs are being addressed while operations at “Ground Zero” remain ongoing.

Upon the directive of Mayor Lazatin, regular disinfection, misting, and spraying operations are also being conducted in surrounding areas to prevent possible health hazards.

Earlier reports confirmed multiple fatalities from the incident as authorities continue searching for possible additional victims beneath the rubble.
