The death toll from the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Mindanao has climbed to 65, according to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Monday, June 15.

Based on the latest situational report, OCD reported 1,447 injured individuals, while 36 people remain missing.

According to OCD Deputy Administrator Asec. Raffy Alejandro, most of the fatalities were caused by landslides triggered by the strong earthquake.

In the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Situational Report No. 7, it stated that a total of 176,186 families, or 736,386 individuals, have been affected by the disaster.

Of those impacted, 3,180 families or 14,161 individuals are currently staying in 37 evacuation centers, while 14,687 families or 59,013 individuals are temporarily sheltering in other areas outside evacuation facilities.

Authorities continue search, rescue, and relief operations as aftershocks and the risk of landslides remain a concern in several affected regions.
