

The death toll from the combined effects of the southwest monsoon or habagat and tropical cyclones Luis and Maymay has risen to 26, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
In its latest report released Tuesday, the PNP said the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) recorded the highest number of fatalities, with 16 deaths, mostly due to landslides in Baguio City and Benguet.

The PNP said the casualties were recorded in various incidents involving landslides, rockfalls, flooding-related drowning, electrocution and falling trees brought about by the adverse weather conditions.
The PNP also reported 15 people injured, including 13 in CAR and two in Calabarzon, while two people remain missing in Calabarzon.
Meanwhile, a total of 42 PNP personnel were also reported to have been affected by the inclement weather.
