

The death toll from the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Bogo City, Cebu on Tuesday has risen to 72, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Thursday morning.
According to NDRRMC, all casualties are still being validated. Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said that three more people died overnight, bringing the total from 69 to 72.
NDRRMC data showed 294 people were reported injured, with no missing persons recorded. Rescue teams continue to dig through debris.
The quake affected 47,221 families, or 170,959 individuals, and displaced around 20,000 people. The NDRRMC reported 597 homes damaged, of which 501 were partially damaged and 96 were completely destroyed.
Meanwhile, records from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Cebu provincial government show that 87 infrastructures were damaged by the strong tremor.
Aftershocks continue in the province, with the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) recording 2,461 aftershocks as of 6 a.m. Thursday.
Relief operations and damage assessments are ongoing across the affected areas.
