The death toll in the collapse of a building in Angeles City rose to six after authorities recovered another body early Friday, May 29, officials said.

Rescuers retrieved the remains of an unidentified individual at around 12:40 a.m. from the rubble of the collapsed structure in Barangay Balibago, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) – Central Luzon.

The Unified Command had earlier confirmed past 9 p.m. Thursday the discovery of the sixth victim, whose body was found near the fifth fatality recovered the same day.

Authorities said the victim, believed to be male, was pinned beneath heavy debris, making retrieval operations difficult for responders.

The remains were turned over to the Department of Health (DOH) for proper handling and identification. The victim has yet to be identified as of posting, while coordination efforts continue at ground zero.

Meanwhile, the Angeles City local government said it is already in coordination with the building owner and contractor as the investigation into the cause of the collapse continues.

Search, rescue, and retrieval operations remain ongoing.
