The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has submitted the proposed ₱7.2 trillion national budget for 2027 to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Malacañang announced Monday, August 10.
Palace Press Officer and Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro said DBM Secretary Kim Robert de Leon has formally submitted the Fiscal Year 2027 National Expenditure Program (NEP) to Marcos during the day.
"Isinumite ng Department of Budget and Management, sa pangunguna ni Secretary Kim Robert de Leon kay President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. ngayong August 10, 2026, ang Fiscal Year 2027 National Expenditure Program, na nagkakahalaga 7.2 trillion pesos," Castro said during the Palace press briefing.
According to Castro, the proposed budget prioritizes education, health, livelihood, security, and strengthening communities, under the theme "People-Centered Growth for an Inclusive and Resilient Future."
"Nakatuon ang budget sa edukasyon, kalusugan, kabuhayan, seguridad, at pagpalakas ng mga komunidad alinsunod sa temang people-centered growth for an inclusive and resilient future," she said.
Castro said the proposed spending plan aims to maximize the use of public funds by improving government services and creating more opportunities for Filipinos.
"Layunin itong gawing mas kapaki-pakinabang ang bawat pisong pampublikong pondo sa pamamagitan ng mas mahusay na serbisyo at mas maraming oportunidad para sa mga Pilipino," she added.
The NEP will be formally transmitted to Congress on Tuesday, August 11, marking the next step in the annual national budget process. Congress will then begin its review and deliberations on the proposed spending program before the final General Appropriations Act (GAA) is enacted.
The ₱7.2 trillion proposal will serve as the Marcos administration's spending framework for fiscal year 2027, covering government programs, projects, and operations across various sectors.
