Day 33 of VP Sara Duterte impeachment trial | October 5, 2026
by Mary Antalan05 October 2026

The Senate impeachment court will resume proceedings on Monday, October 5, focusing on the alleged unexplained wealth of Vice President Sara Duterte, with an Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) official expected to testify.

AMLC Executive Director Ronel Buenaventura is expected to testify on reports involving covered and suspicious transactions linked to Duterte, her husband Manases Carpio, and 15 juridical persons.

Among the documents to be presented are summaries of covered transaction reports (CTRs) and suspicious transaction reports (STRs) from 2007 to 2025, as well as transactions involving Duterte and Carpio from 2022 to 2025.

The reports also cover inward remittances to Calle 88 Foods Corporation from China and other countries, along with insurance policies and investment-related transactions.

The impeachment court earlier granted the defense panel’s request for additional preparation time before Buenaventura’s direct examination, resulting in the postponement of the AMLC presentation from October 1 to October 5.

During the House justice panel hearings in April, Buenaventura testified that covered and suspicious bank transactions involving Duterte and Carpio totaled ₱6.7 billion.

Of the amount, ₱3.7 billion was attributed to Duterte, while ₱2.998 billion was linked to Carpio.

The transactions and their classifications are expected to be examined further during Monday’s proceedings.
