

The Davao Oriental Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) is presently conducting damage assessments of structures in the town of Manay after the area was struck by a magnitude 6.4 earthquake on Wednesday, January 7.
Initially reported as a magnitude 6.7 quake, the tremor has a depth of 23 kilometers and originated in the north eastern waters off Manay, 58 kilometers away from land, reported RH 19 Jun Dimacutac.
Many people were seen streaming out of buildings at 11 a.m., Dimacutac said. According to the PDRRMO’s report, they left calmly, and there have been no cases of injury recorded so far.
Moreover, PHIVOLCS and other agencies did not issue a tsunami warning, although aftershocks are expected.
On October 10, 2025, Manay also experienced an offshore 7.6-magnitude quake that caused extensive damage and was felt as far as Leyte, Caraga region, Davao region, Surigao, and Sarangani province.
