The number of areas across the nation suffering a "dangerous" heat index has decreased to 23, from the recorded 39 on Thursday, May 1.

Based on the latest monitoring of PAGASA, Dagupan City, Pangasinan, and Aparri, Cagayan has the highest heat index at 48 °C.

Other areas with 42°C–51°C classified as danger levels are the following:

  • Roxas City, Capiz
  • Laoag City, Ilocos Norte
  • Cuyo, Palawan
  • Iba, Zambales
  • Dumangos, Iloilo
  • Zamboanga City, Zamboanga Del Sur
  • Tuguegaro City, Cagayan
  • San Jose, Occidental Mindoro
  • Puerto Princesa City, Palawan
  • Virac (Synop), Catanduanes
  • MMSU, Batac, and Ilocos Norte
  • Casiguran, Aurora
  • Cubi Pt. Subic Bay, Olongapo City
  • Infanta Quezon
  • Coron Palawan
  • Aborlan, Palawan
  • Masbate City, Masbate
  • Catbalogan, Samar
  • Borongan, Eastern Samar
  • Davao City, Davao del Sur
  • Cotabato City, Maguindanao

PAGASA earlier reported that the temperature will be between 42°C and 47°C.

The state weather bureau said the dangerous heat level could cause heat cramps and exhaustion. Heat stroke is probable with continued exposure.
