Contractor Curlee Discaya has filed a petition for bail seeking temporary liberty while facing charges in connection with an alleged anomalous flood control project in Bulacan.
According to a report by Jecelle Ricafort, Discaya's lawyer, Atty. Cornelio Samaniego III, confirmed to DZRH News that the petition was filed before the Bulacan RTC Branch 20 on June 16.
A hearing on the case is scheduled this Friday, while Discaya remains detained at the Bulacan Provincial Jail, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
However, his legal counsel said Discaya is experiencing difficulty in detention due to the crowded conditions inside the jail.
In an exclusive message earlier obtained by DZRH News, Discaya claimed he would name more than 150 government officials allegedly involved in receiving kickbacks from flood control projects.
The message further stated that after allegedly being used, he was abandoned by the politicians he described as “buwayang walang kabusugan.”
He also claimed that he was detained in the Senate for nine months, saying it was intended to silence him and prevent him from revealing the full truth.
Discaya was arrested in connection with a non-bailable malversation case linked to the alleged ₱53.9-million flood control project in Calumpit, Bulacan.
