The cross-examination of former PNP Chief and current MMD General Manager Nicolas Torre III continues this afternoon at the Pasig Regional Trial Court in connection with the qualified human trafficking case against televangelist Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, DZRH’s Edniel Parossa reports.
Torre, who served as Davao Police Regional Chief when Quiboloy was arrested in 2024, is testifying for the prosecution. He is expected to clarify the legality of the operation that led to the pastor’s arrest at his religious compound in Davao City.
Arriving early at the Pasig City Hall of Justice before 1:00 p.m., Torre reportedly did not see Quiboloy, who appeared to have arrived earlier at the court. Quiboloy’s counsel, Atty. Israelito Torreon had previously informed DZRH that the hearing was scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
Torreon also confirmed that the questioning of Torre was left incomplete during yesterday’s session, which is why the proceedings are set to continue today.
Yesterday also marked the first encounter between Torre and Quiboloy since the pastor’s arrest and subsequent detention at Pasig City Jail in 2024.
The court proceedings are closely monitored by both legal teams as the trial against the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader progresses.
