At least 785 hospitality jobs in Croatia have been opened to Filipinos under a government-to-government (G2G) recruitment agreement with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), the agency said.

The DMW and the Croatian Employment Service (CES) signed implementing guidelines on Monday, October 19, in Mandaluyong City to establish clear recruitment procedures for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) seeking employment in Croatia.

The signing took place during the second batch-year of the DMW-Croatia G2G recruitment activity, which aims to strengthen coordination between the two governments, facilitate overseas employment and protect Filipino workers.

Nine hotel employers from Croatia attended the recruitment activity to personally interview applicants and assess their qualifications.

Available positions include hotel staff, chefs, waiters and housekeeping personnel, according to the DMW.

The first day of applicant selection and interviews was held on October 19, with 943 shortlisted applicants scheduled to participate in the two-day recruitment process.

Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac recognized the skills of Filipino workers, particularly those in the hospitality industry, saying their expertise remains a strength of the Philippine labor market.

“Croatia is getting one of our core strengths in our labor market, which is workers from the hospitality sector. They are top-notch and world-class, and we are proud to say that it is you,” Cacdac said.

Croatian Ambassador to the Philippines Nebojša Koharović also welcomed the contributions of Filipino workers to Croatian communities.

The DMW said the recruitment activity reflects the continued demand for Filipino workers in Europe and international recognition of their skills, quality service and dedication.

Through the G2G program, the department aims to provide Filipinos seeking jobs in Croatia with a legal, orderly and safe recruitment and employment process.
