A police officer stabbed a fellow officer inside the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) headquarters at Camp Crame on Tuesday morning, authorities reported.

The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. while personnel were having breakfast.

According to a report on Operation Tulong by RH Edniel Parrosa, Police Senior Master Sergeant Michael Camilo allegedly pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed Police Executive Master Sergeant Eric Castro in the back.

Castro was rushed to the nearby hospital and is currently under medical observation, with an X-ray examination pending, the police report noted.

The kitchen knife used in the attack has been confiscated and is now under analysis for forensic examination at the PNP Crime Laboratory.

Camilo has been placed under restrictive custody while authorities prepare both administrative and criminal investigations against him.

According to the police report, colleagues at the Anti-Organized Crime Unit (AOCU) reportedly noticed sudden change in behavior from Camilo earlier that Tuesday morning prior to the stabbing.

The incident took place as CIDG personnel were preparing for a preliminary investigation in Quezon City. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the attack.
