Detained contractor Curlee Discaya was brought to a hospital Thursday morning for medical evaluation, according to his legal counsel. DZRH's Jecelle Ricafort reported.
His lawyer, Atty. Cornelio Samaniego III confirmed that Discaya informed him he would undergo a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedure, though the lawyer said he was also surprised that such a test had been scheduled. Samaniego said he initially planned to visit his client when he learned that Discaya had already been taken to the hospital.
Earlier, on February 25, Discaya and his lawyer sent a letter to the Senate of the Philippines requesting a medical executive check-up at the nearest government or private hospital, in accordance with Senate regulations. The request also included a complete blood chemistry test, chest X-rays, and a cardiac examination.
Samaniego said Discaya has been experiencing difficulty moving his right shoulder, lower back pain, and problems with urination and breathing, particularly at night.
Discaya has been under detention at the Senate facility for nearly seven months after being cited in contempt on September 18, 2025, during an ongoing Senate inquiry. As of Thursday, his lawyer said he had yet to receive confirmation whether Discaya had already returned to the Senate detention facility following the hospital visit.
