Rose Lin, a congressional candidate in the 5th District of Quezon City, is facing a petition for disqualification filed before the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
The petition, filed by Ligaya Sta. Ana, a registered voter in Quezon City, alleges that Lin engaged in prohibited election campaigning on Maundy Thursday, April 17.
According to Sta. Ana, Lin violated Section 68(e) in relation to Section 80 of the Omnibus Election Code (OEC). The petitioner also claims that Lin gave "material consideration to voters," citing a violation of Section 68(a) of the same law.
"This Petition is timely filed, in compliance with Section 2(c) of COMELEC Resolution No. 11046," the petition reads.
As of this writing, Lin has not issued a statement regarding the petition.
