Congress has collected over Php 35 million in funds which will be used to help individuals and families affected by the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Paeng.
In a report by RH Milky Rigonan, a round-a-clock meeting was conducted at the office of House Speaker Martin Romualdez and other concerned government agencies to ensure that the help needed by the victims of STS Paeng will be brought to them.
According to Romualdez, many members of Congress gave their pledge for financial assistance which will be donated to the affected individuals and families of the storm.
Presently, the pledges and contributions given by private individuals and Congress members amount to Php 35 million which will be used for relief packs, Romualdez said.
He added that the coordination of the Congress with the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC), the Office of Civil Defense, and the Department of National Defense is continuous.
The relief drive of the Congress was announced last night, October 29, via the social media accounts of Romualdez.
The House Speaker assured that the focus of Congress is to aid government agencies in times of calamity.
