A new commuter-focused mobile application, TrainSight, is set to roll out publicly in the coming months, promising real-time train arrival estimates and crowd density information across Metro Manila’s major rail lines.

Developed by software engineer RJ Crusem and his team, TrainSight currently supports the LRT-1, LRT-2 and MRT-3 systems, aiming to help passengers better plan their trips before entering or waiting at stations.

The app provides live updates on train arrival times and congestion levels, allowing commuters to anticipate delays and avoid overcrowded coaches. Its system combines hardware-based trackers installed on trains with crowdsourced data from user devices running the app, improving the accuracy of its estimates.

The app is scheduled for full public launch on Android devices in August, with a version for Apple devices expected between September and October.

Crusem said the development team is coordinating with relevant authorities to support the app’s official rollout. In the long term, the group is looking to expand the platform to include road-based public transportation, particularly public buses, to offer a more comprehensive transit tracking system.

The initiative comes as commuters continue to seek more reliable and accessible travel information amid heavy ridership and recurring service disruptions in Metro Manila’s rail network.
