The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has postponed the scheduled printing of official ballots for the 2026 Batanes special election and the Naga City, Camarines Sur plebiscite, originally set for October 14.
In a public announcement dated October 13, the poll body said the printing of ballots for both electoral exercises would remain on hold until further notice due to issues involving ballot allocation and the absence of a printing cost quotation.
For the Naga City plebiscite, which seeks the ratification of the city’s conversion into a highly urbanized city, Comelec said the quantity of ballots to be printed would be revised following advice from its Allocation Committee.
Meanwhile, for the special election for a member of the House of Representatives representing Batanes’ lone legislative district, the National Printing Office (NPO) has yet to submit a quotation in response to the Request for Quotation (RFQ).
“Consequently, the unit cost basis is not yet available,” the Comelec said.
The poll body said it would announce a revised printing schedule once further information becomes available.
