The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has imposed a region-wide gun ban in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) in preparation for the first Bangsamoro Parliamentary Election on October 13, 2025.

According to a report by RH 19 Jun Dimacutac in Rapido Hataw Balita, the Police Regional Office in BARMM (PRO-BAR) will strictly enforce the ban from August 14 to October 28, 2025, covering the entire election period.

The order prohibits carrying firearms, deadly weapons, and explosives outside one’s residence without proper authorization.

Police Brig. Gen. Jaysen De Guzman, PRO-BAR regional director, warned that anyone found violating the law will be held accountable. He also appealed to motorists and the public for understanding, noting that checkpoints may cause traffic delays.

This year’s polls mark the first-ever Bangsamoro Parliamentary Election since the ratification of the Bangsamoro Organic Law in 2019. The historic election will now decide a new set of leaders for the region, taking this as a first step toward peace and democracy.
