The Commission on Election (Comelec) special bids and awards committee awarded the P1.4 billion contract to the joint venture of Ione Resources Inc. for the transmission of the 2025 National and Local Election results.
Based on the notice of award obtained by DZRH News on Friday, April 12, the P1.4 billion shall be used for the procurement of Secure Electronic Transmission Services (SETS).
The SETS will be using telecommunication networks to transmit the poll results, and it will provide "data centers and connectivity requirements for the automated election system servers."

Ione Resources Inc. has 10 days to submit the required supply and delivery management plan; valid joint venture agreement; and post-performance security in an amount equal to a percentage of the total contract price.
As per Comelec, failure to provide the requirements could lead to cancellation of the P1.4 billion contract; disqualification; forfeiture of bid security; and imposition of sanctions.
"Further, COMELEC shall impose a blacklisting penalty pursuant to Section 69 of RA 9184 in accordance with Appendix 17 of the same IRR as amended by GPPB Resolution No. 14-2020 dated 25 June 2020," the poll body stated.
The Notice of Award was signed by Comelec chairman George Erwin Garcia.
