The management of Coliseo de Manila is set to file multiple charges against several officials and operatives of the Philippine National Police–Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) over an alleged illegal raid conducted at their cockpit arena on March 24.
According to Coliseo de Manila’s legal counsel, Atty. Carl Jon Mucho, the operation had no legal basis, stressing that their establishment is not involved in online cockfighting (e-sabong).
The raid was reportedly triggered by an anonymous tip alleging illegal activities inside the premises. However, the management maintained that only “in-cock betting,” or physical, on-site wagering, is being conducted at the venue.
Reports indicated that a CIDG asset allegedly entered the cockpit and placed a bet, which was later used as grounds for the operation.
At present, the cockpit remains closed as authorities have yet to secure a court-issued warrant to allow a forensic examination of the betting stations.
As a result, more than a hundred employees have been temporarily displaced and left without livelihood.
The Coliseo management has called on the CIDG to expedite the issuance of the warrant to allow them to resume operations, emphasizing that their business is legal and has held the necessary permits since 2022.
Meanwhile, the CIDG has yet to release an official statement regarding the allegations.
