A minor was successfully rescued from a drowning incident in Barangay Fatima, Tabaco City, after personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Substation Tabaco responded during a routine seaborne patrol on Sunday, April 5.

According to authorities, the rescue team, composed of Coast Guard Substation Tabaco, SOU Bicol, and FOU K9 Bicol, was conducting patrol operations aboard vessel AB-209 when they spotted the incident.

The responders immediately acted, swiftly retrieving the minor from the water.

The rescue team promptly administered first aid to stabilize the victim and ensure their safety.

Coordination was also established with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) for additional assistance and to secure proper medical attention.

Officials emphasized that drowning can occur within minutes and often without warning, especially during the summer season.

The Coast Guard continues to remind parents and guardians to closely supervise children near coastal areas to prevent similar incidents.
