Aside from resigned Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Elizaldy Co, another one of former House Speaker Martin Romualdez’s co-accused in a plunder case is no longer in the Philippines.

A source told DZRH News that one of the two private individuals implicated in the plunder case reportedly left the country prior to the issuance of their arrest warrant.

They did not have other derogatory records at the time of their departure, either, and had already been overseas for months, reported RH 15 Jecelle Ricafort.

The individual remains unnamed, in compliance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012.

Co left the country in July 2025. On Tuesday, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla said he will be leaving for France in 10 days to bring the former lawmaker back.

Co is currently seeking asylum from the French government, according to reports.

The Sandiganbayan Third Division issued an arrest warrant against Romualdez, Co, Romualdez’s aide Joselyn Serenio, and Felecito Guevarra, who is President of the Samchan Foreign Exchange Corporation, in connection with ₱7.44 billion in alleged flood control kickbacks.
