Cloudy skies and scattered rain showers are expected over parts of the country due to the effects of the shear line and the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Friday.

In it's 5 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA is monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA 10c) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), last spotted 585 kilometers east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

The LPA has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, weather specialist Leanne Loreto said on Friday.

However, its trough is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Visayas and Mindanao, particularly the Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Northern Mindanao, Caraga and Palawan.

Meanwhile, PAGASA is also monitoring Super Typhoon In-fa, which remains outside the PAR, approximately 2,935 kilometers east of Northern Luzon.

The tropical cyclone has maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour near its center and gusts of up to 230 kph. It is moving west-northwestward at 30 kph.

PAGASA said In-fa is not expected to directly affect the country as it is likely to recurve toward Japan.

However, the super typhoon may enter the PAR by Monday, November 2, or Tuesday, November 3. Should it enter the Philippine area, it will be given the local name Samuel.

Aside from these weather systems, the shear line is expected to bring cloudy skies, scattered rains and thunderstorms over the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon.

Affected areas include Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora and Quezon.

The rest of the country will generally experience fair weather, although isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may develop in the afternoon or evening due to localized thunderstorms.

No gale warning has been issued as of Friday.

Undas 2026 weather outlook

In its special weather outlook for the Undas observance from Friday, October 30, to Monday, November 2, PAGASA said most parts of Luzon will experience generally fair weather conditions.

However, higher chances of rainfall are expected over the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon due to the shear line.

Meanwhile, the Visayas and Mindanao may experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the weekend due to the trough of the LPA and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).
