Following their China trip, Gilas Pilipinas is back on the court as Jordan Clarkson and Kai Sotto have joined the team's practice, just over two weeks before the FIBA World Cup.
In a closed-door session at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Wednesday, August 9, Clarkson and Sotto were spotted participating in drills alongside the rest of the squad, as shared by head coach Chot Reyes on Instagram.
Sotto, who has been dealing with a back injury after his game in Orlando Magic during the NBA Summer League, fulfilled his commitment to the team by showing up in his Gilas practice jersey.
He skipped the China trip to focus on therapy for his recovery ahead of the FIBA World Cup.
Meanwhile, Jordan Clarkson, who previously attended a pre-World Cup Gilas training, joined other players like June Mar Fajardo, Japeth Aguilar, AJ Edu, CJ Perez, Chris Newsome, Ray-Ray Parks, Kiefer and Thirdy Ravena, Dwight Ramos, Calvin Oftana, Roger Pogoy, Jamie Malonzo, and Rhenz Abando in the practice.
Clarkson arrived in Manila on August 8 to gear up for Gilas Pilipinas' upcoming campaign in the FIBA World Cup.
Al Panlilio, President of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, previously confirmed that the Utah Jazz player would be part of the Philippine national team.
Both Sotto and Clarkson will be part of the lineup that will face the Dominican Republic, Angola, and Italy in the World Cup, which kicks off on August 25.
The opening game will be hosted at the Philippine Arena, while the matchups against Angola and Italy are scheduled at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
