In an exclusive interview on Matchpoint on DZRH TV, rookie shooting guard CJ Cansino shared his desire to build a long-term future with the Meralco Bolts, saying the organization has already left a strong impression on him.
In his statement, “Dahil nakita ko na kung ano ’yung Meralco, kung ano ’yung organization ng Meralco. Parang, ‘Okay, puwede na. Puwede na akong dito mag-retire.’”
Cansino said experiencing the team’s culture firsthand made him feel that Meralco is a place where he could see himself staying for good.
He also revealed that a courtside reporter reminded him that decisions about a player’s future ultimately depend on the team’s management. Still, Cansino emphasized that he naturally forms strong attachments and prefers long-term commitments.
While he acknowledges that he has only been with the team for two years, Cansino remains hopeful about growing with the franchise after being selected 11th overall in the 2024 PBA Season 49 Draft.
