Several concerned citizens in Candaba, Pampanga, have asked the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate two construction companies linked to Mayor Rene Maglanque, particularly over their involvement in flood control projects in the municipality.

According to a report by RH Jecelle Ricafort, the firms identified were Sto. Cristo Construction & Trading and Globalcrete Builders Inc., which reportedly secured a combined ₱5.4 billion worth of contracts from 2022 to 2025.

Of the amount, about ₱1.4 billion in contracts were reportedly awarded to Sto. Cristo Construction & Trading for projects in Candaba alone.

The group also questioned an alleged ₱753.3 million transfer from Sto. Cristo to Globalcrete Builders, asking the NBI to determine the purpose of the transaction and whether the funds were connected to legitimate construction activities.

The residents further asked the bureau to look into the ownership of the two companies. They claimed Globalcrete Builders was registered under the Maglanque name, while Sto. Cristo Construction & Trading was allegedly owned by a certain Noel Cruz.

The group also sought an investigation into MBB Global Properties Corp., which they alleged is owned by Macy Monique Alarcon Maglanque, the mayor's daughter, as well as the children of former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manny Bonoan and former DPWH Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo.

Former Candaba Mayor Jerry Pelayo and Atty. Faye Singson, counsel for the concerned residents, personally went to the NBI's Organized and Transnational Crimes Division to raise the allegations.

The allegations have yet to be independently established, and the NBI investigation is expected to determine whether the transactions and contracts involved any irregularities.
