CIDG studying possible charges vs. retired generals calling for uprising — AFP Chief

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) is now studying possible charges against retired generals and other individuals who have been calling for an uprising against the government, according to Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr.

The outrage from some former officials and members of the public comes amid the controversy over alleged anomalous flood control projects involving the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), contractors and certain government officials.

Brawner appealed to the public to stop entertaining such ideas, saying these actions would not be good for the country.

He assured that the AFP remains “solid and professional” despite the political noise, emphasizing that the military continues to perform its duties responsibly.

Kami po ay properly 'yung ginagawa namin," said Brawner.

Meanwhile, Brawner clarified that they are not against retired generals joining or encouraging others to participate in peaceful rallies, but he urged them not to invite active members of the AFP to join.

'Yung ating territory at pag-monitor ng mga espiya," he said.

When asked if there were any AFP members who joined the protests, Brawner said there were none and that the organization is “closely monitoring” its members.
