The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) have found inconsistencies in the statements of Ateneo de Manila University players and coaches as they investigate the deaths of two basketball players, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said.
Remulla disclosed the development following the first appearance of former Ateneo Blue Eagles head coach Tab Baldwin before authorities since the deaths of players Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili.
“There are some inconsistencies between what the player said and what the coaches said pero hindi pa kami tapos. Wala pa kaming maibibigay na comment hanggang matapos lahat ‘to.,” Remulla said.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has also subpoenaed Ateneo President Fr. Bobby Yap as part of the ongoing probe. His appearance has been set for Thursday, June 25.
Remulla said Yap was unable to attend earlier proceedings due to graduation ceremonies at the university.
“Si Fr. Bobby, graduation sa Ateneo ngayon kaya hindi siya makarating but he is subpoenaed for Thursday next week,” he said.
Authorities said the school’s statement is necessary to help reconcile the inconsistencies in testimonies related to the deaths of Baterbonia and Adili.
