The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) has issued a one-month ultimatum to Roblox, placing the platform under strict monitoring over alleged illegal activities affecting Filipino users, particularly minors.
Authorities said the widely used gaming platform has become a target for threat actors, including individuals involved in child exploitation and illegal drug operations, who reportedly use its interactive features to contact and manipulate underage users.
Concerns were also raised over the spread of harmful content, including propaganda materials that may influence children into unlawful behavior.
CICC warned that failure to comply within 30 days could result in a nationwide block of the platform, in coordination with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). The proposed enforcement may involve geo-fencing measures to restrict access across the country.
The agency emphasized the urgency of stronger safeguards and cooperation from digital platforms to protect children and prevent the misuse of online spaces for criminal activities.
