The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) on Thursday lifted its ban order against messaging and media-sharing platform Discord following a meeting with the platform’s management on compliance matters.
“Yup, we're ordering the lifting,” DICT Undersecretary Renato “Aboy” Paraiso, executive director of the CICC, said.
The lifting came after the CICC and Discord met to discuss the agency’s requirements and the platform’s existing teen safety measures.
Discord had earlier reached out to the CICC to express its willingness to engage with the agency. The platform also presented its newly launched Global Teen Experience, which it said would place teenagers in age-appropriate spaces.
Discord Senior Public Policy Advisor Vasundhara Singh said users who cannot be assigned to a specific age group will be required to confirm their age through facial age estimation, while biometric data will not be stored by Discord.
The CICC had initially ordered Discord and Reddit to establish a Philippine presence within 24 hours following the Banga National High School shooting in South Cotabato, the third school shooting incident reported in the Philippines in 2026.
