The ceiling of San Vicente Ferrer Quasi-Parish in Barangay Salimbao, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte, collapsed on Tuesday, with no injuries reported, according to the Archdiocese of Cotabato.
Rev. Fr. Mario Combong, DCC, confirmed the incident, which left nearly the entire ceiling falling onto the church pews and caused damage inside the structure.
Following the collapse, members of the Gagmay’ng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKK), or Basic Ecclesial Communities, immediately assisted in clearing the debris.
Fr. Combong expressed his gratitude to the parishioners for their prompt response and cooperation in cleaning the church.
The incident has raised concerns about the building’s structural safety and the welfare of parishioners attending religious services. Further assessment is needed to determine the extent of the damage and establish whether the church remains safe for use.
