Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado presented before the media a Chinese national who was arrested in Batangas for posing as a Filipino.

The Chinese national, identified as Zhi Ling Guan, 47, had been using the aliases Shi Nengyuan and Mike Sy, and was able to obtain fake documents such as a Philippine passport to back his assumed identities, reported RH 29 Boy Gonzales.

The suspect was apprehended with the help of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) Intelligence Service. Based on the LTO’s records, the Zhi used the name Shi Nengyuan to acquire a driver’s license and the name Mike Sy for a passport.

According to Commissioner Viado, intelligence verification and coordination with various agencies led to Zhi’s arrest.

Viado warned other foreigners against committing similar illegal activities, saying they cannot get away with it and will have to face the law for doing so.

The suspect is currently under the custody of the BI while undergoing deportation proceedings.
