Former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson arrived at the DoubleGem EDSA Garden Events Place in Mandaluyong City on Tuesday, minutes before a scheduled “Blue Ribbon hearing” promoted by former congressman Mike Defensor.
The gathering was expected to feature 18 alleged former bodyguards of ex-congressman Zaldy Co, who are reportedly set to discuss issues related to the alleged flood control corruption controversy.
Upon his arrival, Singson said he was prepared to reveal information he claimed to possess regarding the alleged flood control scandal. He accused former House Speaker Martin Romualdez and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. of being the “masterminds” behind corruption linked to flood control projects.
“Siya na nagnakaw, siya pa nagbibintang kaya’t kailangan huwag tayong huminto. Mayroon tayong pruweba, pero pinagtatakpan nila ang mga nagtatakip kasabwat. Kailangan sama-sama tayong lahat para malaman ang katotohanan,” Singson told reporters.
He further criticized government officials and senators for allegedly ignoring the issue.
“Bakit nagbulag-bulagan itong mga kagalang-galang na mga senador, mga opisyales. Pinapagalitan pa yung nagsusumbong saan kayo ng magnanakaw sila pa ang nagbibintang," he said.
“Maliwanag ang mastermind dito si Martin Romualdez at Marcos walang iba, mayroon kaming pruweba na sila ang nagnanakaw ng kaban ng bayan,” he added.
However, Singson and other participants were reportedly denied entry into the venue by the compound’s caretaker for reasons that were not immediately clear.
“Walang makapigil sa amin, mapatay na kami lahat pero sasabihin namin ang totoo ang magnanakaw, Martin Romualdez and [Ferdinand] Marcos Jr. Sila ang utak kaya sila ang nagpipigil kaya nag mga pulis na nagpipigil dito kasalanan din nila kung ba’t sila pigilan ang taumbayan. Sigurado ako may pruweba kami na sila nag masterminds sa mga nakawan,” he said.
Meanwhile, a gathering of pro-Duterte vloggers and supporters of former President Rodrigo Duterte gradually turned into a protest outside the venue.
Around 30 to 50 vloggers, supporters were present at the site.
The Eastern Police District deployed approximately 200 police officers in the area, with members of its Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) team positioned in front of the DoubleGem EDSA venue.
Senator Imee Marcos also arrived at the location, however she also reportedly denied entry into the venue.

As of posting time, former Congressman Mike Defensor, who had earlier announced the activity, had yet to arrive at the venue.
