

Former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson was arrested by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Thursday afternoon in connection with a cybercrime case.
According to a QCPD report, operatives from Police Station 12, led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Maria Rosario Calusor, served the warrant of arrest against the 84-year-old former governor at his residence in Barangay Ugong Norte, Quezon City, at around 1:00 p.m.
The arrest stemmed from an outstanding warrant issued by Branch 21 of the Regional Trial Court in Vigan City for an alleged violation of Republic Act 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
Following his arrest, Singson was taken into the custody of Police Station 12 for documentation and proper disposition in accordance with legal procedures.
As of writing, Singson has already posted bail in the cyberlibel case. Authorities have yet to release further details regarding the specific allegations related to the complaint.
