Astronomer CEO Andy Byron has resigned from his position following an incident at a Coldplay concert in Boston, where he was seen getting cozy with a colleague—an interaction that quickly went viral on social media.
In a statement posted on X, Astronomer said, "Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted," adding that the board will begin a search for their next Chief Executive, as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO.
As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.

Byron was shown on the big screen at the concert on Wednesday with his arms around Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot. Byron, who is married with children, was seen quickly hiding his face after the couple appeared onscreen.
Coldplay's lead singer Chris Martin commented during the moment, "Either they’re having an affair or they're just very shy." A video of the incident recorded by a concertgoer later went viral.
Byron's resignation follows the company's announcement on Friday that it had launched a formal investigation into the matter, placing the CEO on administrative leave.
"Before this week, we were known as a pioneer in the DataOps space, helping data teams power everything from modern analytics to production AI," trthe company said in a Saturday statement.
"Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met," it added.
