Celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Eric C. Yapjuangco, popularly known as Doc Yapi, appeared before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in connection with the death of the mother of Filipino-American reality television star Ron Tristan Perez following a cosmetic surgery procedure in San Juan City.
In a report by RH Jecelle Ricafort, NBI Director Atty. Melvin Matibag said the doctor had communicated with the bureau and was advised to submit evidence to refute the allegations against him.
“Just the same sa complainant, kinausap natin. And I told him just to submit their evidence, and we will process it. So we will listen to you; we will be fair. Just like any other case, we will treat it the same,” Matibag said.
The case stemmed from Perez’s complaint following his mother’s death after undergoing four cosmetic procedures at The Icon Clinic on March 2, including liposuction, Brazilian butt lift, tummy tuck, and body tightening or arm surgery.
The procedures reportedly cost ₱570,000 and lasted around seven hours, with Doc Yapi allegedly performing the operations himself.
Perez previously raised concerns after his mother reportedly turned pale following the surgery and died several days later.
The NBI assured both parties that it would conduct a fair investigation and evaluate the evidence submitted as it continues to look into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
