Senator Alan Peter Cayetano alleged that a “systematic attack” is being carried out within the Senate, elaborating that certain colleagues have coordinated political moves against their bloc and supposedly selectively targeting opponents.

In a livestreamed “fellowship lunch” on June 19, Cayetano said recent political disputes inside the higher chamber reflect what he described as organized efforts to undermine his group.

“It was a systematic attack… so that point of no return na,” Cayetano said, comparing the situation to strained political relationships that can no longer be repaired.

He also spoke of internal Senate dynamics, claiming that alliances shift based on convenience and coordination between the opposing groups.

“Pag nag-meeting sila… nagte-take turn sila,” he said, alleging coordinated messaging among certain senators and their allies.

Cayetano specifically criticized Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson, claiming he played a key role in shaping narratives against their bloc and influencing other lawmakers.

He also made remarks involving Senators Raffy and Erwin Tulfo, suggesting shifting loyalties and political pressure within Senate circles.

“Hindi sila Malacañang. In other words, hindi sila tuta,” Cayetano said, referring to accusations of alignment with executive interests.

He further claimed that some senators act under influence from senior political figures, alleging that certain decisions are guided by external pressure rather than independent judgment.

Additionally, Cayetano questioned the credibility of affidavits and witness procedures in ongoing disputes, saying the process was being misused for political purposes.

“Hindi po 'yun ang sistema… Selective justice and some of it is not justice,” he said.

He added that some accusations circulating within political discussions are, in his view, exaggerated or fabricated.

The senator also defended his position by saying Senate discussions are often informal. Given that there are only 24 members, internal dynamics have become highly personal.

Cayetano’s remarks come amid escalating tensions among senators over recent political and procedural disputes, with the two competing blocs trading accusations over influence, loyalty, and legislative conduct.
