Castro on 2028 Senate bid: 'Hindi pa pumapasok sa isip ko'
by Luwela Amor13 April 2026

Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro on Monday said she is not currently considering a bid for the Senate in the 2028 elections, despite suggestions from supporters and her inclusion in some early surveys of potential candidates.

During an interview on DZRH's Dos Por Dos, Castro acknowledged that some people have been encouraging her to enter politics, but stressed that running for public office is not part of her plans at this time.

“Hindi ko ‘yan inisip, although syempre may mga tao na nagsasabi na ‘Oy tumakbo ka, tumakbo ka,’” she said.

She added, partly in jest, that being urged into politics is not always a friendly gesture, noting that the demands and risks of public office can be significant.

Castro also said she only recently learned that her name had been included in surveys assessing possible contenders for the 2028 polls.

“Ngayon ko lang nadinig na sinasama nila ako sa survey. Siguro masarap na pakinggan kasi may mga tao na maaaring magtiwala sa’yo dahil sa ginagawa mo, pero syempre hindi pa siya pumapasok sa isip ko. Sa totoo lang,” she said.

Meanwhile, Castro addressed a nickname often associated with her. When asked if she gets offended by being called “Ante Kler,” she jokingly replied, “Hindi, hindi, pinaregister ko na nga ‘yan.” She explained that “Ante Kler” stands for “anti-fake news” and “anti-epal.”

For now, Castro said her focus remains on her responsibilities as Palace Press Officer and on continuing public service.

She also did not confirm whether her stance could change in the future.
